Before Ed attended University he carried out a Gap Year Commission in the British Army which included a short intensive training course at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 2005 he completed a bachelor's degree in Forensic Science at University which developed his interest in crime scene investigation and problem solving before starting a career with the Metropolitan Police Service in 2006.

Ed took a side step in late 2011 and became a Detective working in various departments across London, including domestic violence, burglary, robbery, CID, gangs unit and homicide & major crime. In the latter years Ed was promoted to Detective Sergeant.
In late 2021/early 2022 things took a drastic turn for Ed resulting in him undergoing counselling and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Ed resigned from the police and over time he has been able to recover and seize back control of his life, reflecting upon the years within policing and undertaking The Mental Health First Aider course and The Mental Health Toolkit training in order to increase his knowledge and understanding of mental health and well being.
